Finding beauty
A few nights ago, as Auckland went into yet another period of lockdown, and the load of the quick pivot (don’t we all hate that word now!), hit once again, I just needed to get out and move and breathe. As I walked up and down my road, I allowed myself to slow down and become aware of what was around me. I talked to the cows as I wandered past. I took in the sunset, and then, I came across these beauties growing wild.
I would totally have missed them if I hadn’t been looking around me and been curious to find goodness. If I given into to staying cooped up in my safe place instead of venturing out.
These multiple lockdowns are hard and unsettling. We are all feeling it.
What I challenge you to do - for your mental and emotional well-being and as a part of your self-care, is to take some time each day to be quiet and observe what is around you and find something good and beautiful to focus your thoughts on.
Our thoughts can be a powerful way to re-direct our emotions and how we feel. Finding goodness in our lives and expressing gratitude and thanks for it helps us to cut through negative emotions and thought patterns.
What can you be grateful for today?
